Laying out the Turtle Deck

We trimmed the canopy and fit the rear bulkhead and started planing out the turtle deck.  We used masking tape to give us a rough idea of what our rear bulkhead was going to look like.  Once we decided on the dimensions we cut a template which we used to make our formers to hammer form the rear bulkhead, exactly like we did the ends of the fuel tank.

After hammer forming the rear and middle bulkheads we created a template and cut the aluminum for the turtle deck skin. We also cut the wood formers for the side and bottom of the rear fuselage.
